Autumn term feedback.
I have just come out of my 20 minute feedback tutorial with my tutors Anna and Esteban. Overall the feedback was quite good and promising, but still not as good as I was hoping. Here is a list of what I can remember that was said to me:
> They marked us very strictly as they feel we all have lots more to learn – no one got a 1st.
> I have good research, good ideas and I’m a very strong student, just need to be able to actually make my ideas look professional and work on the technical side of things (my argument against this was that they don’t give us enough time to create something polished, so we have to cut corners just to get something out)
> I am very good at working in a team and individually in a professional manner, but I should use the university resources (including the tutors) more.
> I should learn more about my subject (in terms of moving image, graphic design, typography etc.) and be more sensitive to the project that I am doing (e.g. if it is about child abuse)
> I have too many ideas that I try to put in one (all my tutors have said this since secondary school). I just need to edit them down, but learning how to edit films will help me do so.
> My portfolio has some nice pieces of presentation, I just need to work on being more creative with my presentation, which isn’t my fault as the presentation lecture was cancelled.
> Overall I got 69 points, which is dead on the borderline of 2.2 and 2.1
> I am very enthusiastic which they love and they can’t wait to see what else I come out with.
I will add more points as I remember them.
I feel a little bit down I suppose (but only a little bit) because I have always had good feedback from tutors. And this time, there was a lot of stuff I need to work on, where as usually I just have to carry on the way I am going. But at least now I know where I am, and what I have to head for, and even know what the criteria is like, so I don’t feel like I’m just doing projects for the sake of it.
