Consumerism is EVIL – Research

“Consumerism – people purchasing goods and consuming materials in excess of their basic needs”
Some more things which I have found. As explained before, I am posting them for my own ease of reference, but it would be great if I could have some of your input too!
I also had a gander at Amish communities. For those who don’t know, they are christian people who live very simply. They wear plain dress and are reluctant to adopt modern convenience. They don’t have electricity and disassociate themselves with militarism and consumerism. I don’t know what help researching this is going to give me, but it’s research nevertheless.
Them videos do not really help much. I am writing my thesis on advertising to children, and whether that is good or bad. Consumerism isnt wholly evil, it has done some good things, but as always people take it too far in order to have an excessive amount of money.
I have found decent videos really hard to come by, but I am just looking at them to see if there are any regular conventions that I can pick up on.
I personally don’t feel that consumerism is evil. But for my project, I want to try and persuade an audience to believe a certain thing, using the things I have learned in writing my dissertation. So I have to use an extremity (i.e. consumerism is evil) otherwise it wouldn’t work. I can’t really just flutter between whether it is good or bad, or it will lack substance. I’m not looking to create something that is entirely serious either, maybe something with an undertone of sarcasm. I don’t think I explained that in my blog writing though :/ Probably calls for another post to clarify lol.
Haha, read your new blog post too, I see. I may be doing something like that for my games project, taking it to the extreme.
