I’ve got a brand new toy

A few weeks back, I got my latest toy: A Canon EOS 550d DSLR Camera.

Plus a Tamron 70-300mm Lens and a flash gun.

The Canon EOS sports a higher resolution than my old 450d (which is still for sale here) and has a better processor. But most importantly, it has that all-important Full 1080p HD Video Recording function, which will do just nicely for my escapades in Moving Image.

Weighing up the pro’s and cons between the Canon 550d and the Canon 7d, I found that the 550d is pretty much the same quality as the 7d. Ok, the 7d has a faster processor so it can take more photos per second, but the resolution is the same and the video quality is the same. Some reviewers even say that the picture quality of the 550d is much sharper than the 7d. And it’s for practically half the price. Therefore I opted for my new baby, the 550d.

I haven’t had much chance to play with it unfortunately, due to dissertation duress, but here is my first playtime video:

+ First day of trying out my new Canon 550d and Tamron 70-300mm lens, I found a big old spider. Thank the heavens for the lens having macro!Β (Click 1080p)

Due to my new acquisition, I will be starting up my monthly ‘blogcasts’ very soon. Taking video via webcam was too much of a pain in the back side.
